Bruneians start fasting tomorrow

BRUNEI will start observing Ramadhan 1432 Hijrah tomorrow, the Syariah High Court Judge announced on state broadcaster Radio Televisyen Brunei last night.

Dato Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Metussin Hj Baki said officials failed to sight the new moon in all four districts, including Bukit Shahbandar in Jerudong, Bukit Ambok and Padang Tembak BukitAgok in Tutong as well as Bukit Lumut in Belait.

Muslims in the country will begin their tarawih, witir prayers and tadarus at mosques nationwide after the Isya' prayers today.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religious Affairs yesterday issued a press release on school hours for Arabic and religious schools during the holy month of Ramadhan.

Pra, I, II and III classes are off, while IV, V, and VI Classes will resume their school hours from 8am to 9.30am for the morning session and 12.30pm to 2pm for the afternoon session.

Preparatory Arabic schools will operate from 7.30am to 11.40am while secondary arabic7.30am to 12.30pm.

Teaching staff are expected to continue working according to the following hours of 7.20am to 12.30pm for Arabic schools and 7.45am to 11.40am for primary schools.

Morning sessions for religious and secondary schools will begin from 7.30am to 10.30am and 7.30am to 11.50am while afternoon sessions are from 12pm to 3pm and 12.15pm to 4pm

The Ministry of Religious Affairs yesterday held a religious ceremony while waiting for the moon-sighting results to be collected nationwide at its headquarters yesterday.

Present during the ceremony was Minister of Religious Affairs Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr HjPg Hj Abdul Rahman, Deputy Minister Pg Hj Bahrom Pg Hj Bahar, permanent secretaries, and other senior officials.
